Bonnie Andes made this quilt as a wedding gift for a couple of mountain bikers. Since mountain biking is their passion, she wanted that to be reflected in their quilt. She used a variety of bicycle prints from the Cycles of Life fabric line by Kristen Berger for Maywood Studio.
Bonnie requested bicycles in the quilting to tie it all together. After some searching, I found the perfect design: Bicycles and Hills by Marci Gore.
Since the quilt already has so much white, she decided to go with a darker thread to add interest to the lighter areas. We went with a lovely blue and green variegated by King Tut. That choice really makes the bicycles pop!
I really enjoyed quilting this unique quilt. I hope the newlyweds are thrilled to receive it! If you would like to make one of your own, the pattern is Disappearing Hourglass by Missouri Star Quilt Company. There is a free video tutorial available here.
