Missoula Quilt Show

A couple of weeks ago, I got to spend the day with my mom at the Missoula Quilt Show.  They do the show every other year, and it's always a lot of fun.  We were even able to meet my aunt for lunch since she lives in the area.

I wanted to share a few of my favorite quilts from the show.  Most of these pictures were taken by my mom, and she was kind enough to let me use them.  My mom does a variety of wonderful photography.  You can see her work here.

This first quilt is Solar Flare from the book Blocks to Diamonds by Cheryl Malkowski of Cheryl Rose Creations.  It was pieced by Cynda Clark and quilted by Michelle Baker.  I love the way the stripes are woven to create an intricate knot.

Next up is Glacier Star by Judy Niemeyer of Quiltworx.  It was pieced by Linda Barba and quilted by Patti O'Conner.  Glacier Star is always gorgeous, but Linda's color choices make it especially stunning.

Next  is a Feathered Star quilt in icy blues.  This quilt was designed and pieced by Ellie Sigrist.  It was quilted by Patty O'Conner.  My favorite part of this one is the diamonds around the center star.

The quilting is also stunning.  I really liked the idea of using feathers on the outside of a block with swirls curling into the center.

I discovered Jacqueline de Jonge of Be Coulorful about a year ago.  I find her quilts absolutely captivating.  This one is called Catch Me... If You Can!  It was pieced by Sandy Eisinger and quilted by Michelle Baker.

Next is a quilt that I could actually see myself making.  The pattern is Third Time Around by Stephanie Prescott for A Quilter's Dream.  It was pieced by Mary Lu Etzel and quilted by Debbie Touchette.  I love the batiks she chose.  For some reason, they remind me of rocks in a river bed.

Last but not least is this charming Christmas tree rag quilt.  The pattern is Oh Christmas Tree by Karla Alexander for Saginaw Street Quilts.  It was pieced and quilted by Ann Karsky.  I just love the idea of making a cozy rag quilt that forms a picture.  It has me thinking about making one that is a snowman so it can be used all winter long.

I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of the 2016 Missoula Quilt Show.  There were so many lovely quilts there.  I'm already getting excited for the next show in 2018.
