Mom's First Quilt

My parents retired and moved to Montana this summer.  One of the first things on the agenda when they got here was to teach Mom to quilt.  I had her over and started giving her quilting lessons.  We both had a lot of fun.

These were her first two quilt blocks.  By the end of the day, she had made several more, and she was on a roll.

It didn't take her long to have a finished quilt top.  She even let me do the quilting.  I chose to quilt it with Caspian by Hermione Agee of Lorien Quilting.

Once it was quilted, we had another lesson to cover binding.  She chose a beautiful binding fabric that complements the quilt perfectly.

Mom has taken to quilting like a fish to water.  She has already finished another top that is in my queue for quilting, and she has a third top ready to assemble.  It makes me so happy that this is something we can share.  I smile every time I go to her house and see her first quilt sitting in the living room.
