350 Blocks Project: February Report

Every year, Shelly at Prairie Moon Quilts hosts a challenge to complete 350 quilt blocks in one year.  She keeps a list of everyone who is participating and how many blocks they have made.  She breaks it down into monthly goals to help us stay on track.  While the objective is to make 350 blocks, it's mostly just a fun way to watch your progress and encourage each other.  There is no pressure if you get behind, and her monthly prize drawings are based on participation rather than results.

In February, I made 46 blocks.  First, I made 42 16-patch blocks, 38 in purples, and 4 in blues.

I also made 4 shamrock blocks for a table runner for my hubby.  This was my first swing at applique.  It went pretty well.  I still think I prefer piecing, but this was a great way to do a more unusual shape.

In addition to the fresh blocks, I also made progress towards some finished quilts.  I sewed half of the triangle blocks that I made last month into pairs.

I also quilted this top and made the binding.  I'm almost halfway through hand stitching the binding to the back.  This is for a coworker who is expecting a baby boy in April.

I feel like February was a very productive month.  The 46 blocks I made gives me a total of 480 blocks so far this year.  I'm also very happy with the progress I've made towards finishing the baby quilt.
